<Techniques: Wood-Firing & Natural Ash Glazing>

🔥 Wood-Firing is a traditional technique where ceramics are fired in a wood-fueled kiln for several days, allowing the flames, ash, and temperature fluctuations to naturally shape the final appearance.

🔥 Achieved through high-temperature firing at 1200–1300°C (2192–2372°F), where the interaction of wood ash with the clay body creates a rich, deep brown surface with subtle tonal variations. Unlike conventional glazing, the ash melts into a natural glaze, giving each piece a unique depth and character.

🔥 Oxygen Reduction Effects: During firing, the flow of wood smoke and fluctuating oxygen levels cause unpredictable colour shifts in the clay, enhancing the earthy brown tones and creating an organic, wabi-sabi-inspired aesthetic.
